TGT Beats The Franklin Despite The Rain!

With rain coming down earlier in the day, there was some uncertainty about whether this game would go down. But come 6pm, the sun was shining in the sky! Taint no clouds in sight! Let's play ball!

With 2 runs in the first, 2 in the second, and 7 in the third, TGT went out on an early lead. But TFI scored 4 in the bottom of the fourth ... AND THEN THE RAINS CAME!

As the skies opened up and the rains poured down, we all took a rain delay in the hopes that the storm would blow over. Peering across the wide fields of Edgeley, we could see that CAT and BC were plugging away. So, with an 11-4 lead, TGT got The Franklin back on the field so we could finish this up.

The rains slowed, we scored another 5, they scored another 1.
16-5 final. TGT wins.

Here are some highlights:

You 'Taint Always Get What You Want

But guess what?!

This week Captain Schwartz did!

First.
TGT's game versus the Zoo, which El Capitan could not attend, got rained out.
The team was ready, but the game is being reschedule. He'd rather be on the mound 'cause the team will be ready to go. We are jangly, and only a few games back.

Second.
Schwartz's brother, Dan, sang with the F*ing ROLLING STONES.
No Bullshit. This is why he couldn't attend the softball game.
(it's cooler than CCSL anyway)
Dan sang with The Crossing, an amazing Choir that you should check out if you enjoy incredible and interesting vocals. Killin'.

In other, and certainly less interesting, news - this week's recap is simply to keep your eye on the calendar up in the corner of this page...

-This week's game vs. ZOO could potentially be 7/3, which would make a two game week with one against SPTR on 7/2.

-There's a makeup game vs. P&P on 7/9 and another vs. CAT on 7/10 - which, counting the game vs. BC on 7/8, makes three in a row that week.

-Then there's our true double header vs. PMA on 7/15. Yea.
Followed by the closer vs. NCC on 7/16.

There it is. Be Ready.
I'll leave you with Keith. He's always ready.

Rainy Recap

MONDAY 6/10

Not once. Not twice. But for the THIRD week in a row we got rained out!
Here's your recap:

There once was The Green Tambourine,
a team whose fate's yet to be seen.
But a blog they begun,
and rains started to run,
and since then 'taint no games have there been.

TUESDAY 6/11

Finally some softball! But after all that time off? Maybe they should call us the Rusty Tambourines! Hey-O!

So this was shaping up to be a good game for us, up 7-3 after three. But then the Fleishers had one of the best batting innings we've seen in a long time. Seriously! We fielded the ball without any real major errors, but they hit every hole again, and again, and again - line drives up the middle; grounders splitting first, second, short, and third; little pops into the shallow outfield - they must have batted around twice, racking up 13. Well played, Fleishers. Well played.

The rest of the game was back and forth. They scored some more, we scored some more, but we couldn't undo that devastating top of the fourth.

Play of the game goes to Adam who laid out into very shallow center for a pop fly and landed in a pool of mush! The splash was seen from both benches!

As a side note, the mushy spot was thoroughly inspected after the game. No edible fungi were found.

'Taint Happening - P&P Rematch Rained Out!

It was Week 2, and TGT was still scrambling to establish a core lineup. With some last minute call-outs, we found ourselves a few players short, and made our way to the field with our heads hanging in shame...

We were met by Bob Ford, beer in hand, and a smiling P&P team who immediately lifted our spirits by lending us half their team for what turned out to be an incredibly fun scrimmage!

Who could have thought that a REAL forfeit on our part (as opposed to a "misunderstanding") would turn into one of the most enjoyable games of the season?!

So, we've been looking forward to meeting the virtuous P&P for a real game, but alas ... rain again!

Let's hope we have some great weather for Hoagiefest tomorrow! And for our double header next week!

Check out the embedded calendar, which will always have the most up-to-date schedule.

PMA and P&P reschedule dates to follow. Stay tuned!
